My favorite memories were of getting to celebrate with them on their 50th Wedding Anniversary, in a woodsy park full of cabinsāfilled with Grasmeders! Quite a community they built around themselves.
My most favorite memory was riding on the boat with them in the 4th of July Boat parade at Colonial BeachāKathie had an inflatable Kangaroo & a very patriotic Dr. Seuss hat on her head, while Maria & I waved red lobster claw oven mitts at everyone passing by. Jack was at the wheel, of course, steering us surely among all the many participants.

My condolences to you and your entire family and friends. I got to know your dad from family gatherings while I was still caregiving for Ethel. Later on, upon occasion, I would see your dad at BrightView Great Falls while I was caring for my clients. I would go to talk with him when I saw him in Thelma's. He was happy to see a smiling face, but I know he didnāt remember me. It was great to see how much you kids visited your dad. I will remember Jack with a drink in his hand and Madel by his side.

2 Clear recollections. Once was sleeping on the floor when I was visiting from college and Jack blowing revelry to get the boys up and working. Then Jack poking his head in the door with a very big grin on his face and saying, "Sorry girls, you get to sleep in another half an hour". You could tell he was sorry, not sorry.
Jack & Kathie had purchased their retirement land, but Jack was clear, before you build a house, you must build a dock. You then had to celebrate the building of the dock with a party.
Jack & Kathie's impact was made on everyone. I always felt welcome at their hour or anything the Grasmeders did (or made me play). Please always remember to celebrate what you have, not mourn what you don't have.
Love, Janice Lynch

I'll always remember my mom rinsing me with cold water in the bathtub at an early age and telling me to be a soldier like Uncle Jack. Every time we saw a helicopter, we thought Uncle Jack could be flying it.
My father, who did a stint in the army but was very critical of the war and the military, always told us that Uncle Jack was a "real" hero!
